Lawyer Armah Blay calls for voters in Sekondi to make a change

The National Democratic Congress’s parliamentary candidate for the Sekandi Constituency, Mr. Nyameke Blay Armah, claims that the Sekondi people have a genuine chance to take control of their destiny and reroute development in the area through the 2024 elections.

The constituency had tried the New Patriotic Party for the previous 28 years, he said, but there had been no progress and the socioeconomic indicators had left many constituents discouraged.

Since we were all raised here and were aware of Sekondi’s condition, I wish to serve them with diligence and honour. The decline is really concerning. They grovel for approval before ignoring us. The NDC parliamentary candidate stated to the Ghana News Agency on Monday, “I want to restore Sekondi to its former glory with a thriving market and fishing economy and carry on the traditions of Bosomtwe Sam who helped establish the fishing harbour.”

He stated that the restoration of the market, the cold store, and the entrance of fishing boats were essential to his platform as a candidate for the area.

He stated that part of the goal to give the local indigenous people hope again included creating work prospects through skill development, connecting people to jobs overseas, and establishing a guiding and counselling centre.

“I am going to be in dialogue with the Methodist church to use their building along the beach area for a skills development Centre to also equip the youth with entrepreneurial and employable skills”, he added.
“Opportunities for the youth in particular should be something worldwide and not just local, and that is our perspective”.

On recreation, he said there would be a sea view development project comparable to the one in Angola’s capital, where people have the privilege to rejuvenate their systems after a hard day’s work.

“Our former MP, the late Sam, had plans for “Bakam”, and that is exactly what we are going to work on and modify for today’s need, he said.

Mr Blay Armah said he had high hopes with the support of the business community to return Sekondi to glory, “If you love Sekondi, then vote for someone ready and prepared to get Sekondi up and running…28 years in NPP and our city keeps going back, turn the tables now for our common good.”

Mr. Blay Armah would be facing off with the incumbent Lawyer Andrew Agyapa Mercer of the NPP for Sekondi parliamentary seat.
