Nima-Mamobi violent clash: Another suspect arrested

Another suspect have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with last Tuesday’s Nima-Mamobi violent clash.

Farouk Dauda, 31 was arrested on Sunday, January 23 in collaboration with the National Security Bureau at his hideout in Accra.

A statement from the Service said, the suspect was captured on cameras welding machete and has admitted same during interrogation.

The statement sighted by GhanaPlus.com on the Facebook page of the Ghana Police Service added a wrapped substance suspected to be Indian hemp was retrieved from Mr Dauda upon his arrest.

“He is currently in Police custody assisting with investigations,” the statement noted.

According to the Police effort are underway to arrest all persons who took part in the violent clash.

“The Police in collaboration with the National Investigation Bureau (NIB), yesterday Sunday, January 23, 2022, arrested suspect Farouk Dauda alias Omondi, aged 31 years, who was part of the rioters of the Mamobi-Nima clash.

 Suspect Farouk Dauda was arrested at his hideout in a suburb of Accra based on intelligence, after having been into hiding after the incident which occurred on January 18, 2022.

During interrogation, he admitted his involvement in the said clash where he was captured in a video footage wielding a machete as he identified himself in the said video footage.

 A search conducted on him led to the retrieval of a wrapped substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

 He is currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to arrest all other persons involved in the violent incident,” Police Facebook post reads.

Nima- Maamobi deadly clash

The Bombom and the Kumordzi groups on Tuesday, January 18 afternoon engaged in a fatal clash at Nima and Mamobi in Accra resulting in some lost of lives and injuries.

The incident said to have occurred in front of the President’s resident at Nima, opposite the Nima police station saw irate youth fired guns and welded cutlasses in broad day light forcing residents to run for their lives.

Videos of their widely condemned activities have been making rounds on various Ghanaian social media platforms.
