Nima-Maamobi clash: Police place ₵20, 000 bounty on gang leaders

The Ghana Police Service has announce a ₵20,000 bounty on the head of leaders of the two factions responsible for Tuesday’s Nima and Maamobi deadly clash.

The leaders, Ali Awudu of the Bombom group and Ibrahim Hussein of the Kumordzi group are currently on the run after leading their respective groups in Tuesday’s disturbances.

At a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, January 19, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Kwesi Ofori said all persons involved will be arrested and called on the public to assist them with relevant information.

“……Let me use this opportunity also to state that the kingpins, the actual chief executives of these criminal gangs, we are doing everything possible to make sure we pursue them , we get them, investigate them and charge them for court”.

“The Bombom group which is led by Ali Awudu and the Kumordzi group is led by Ibrahim Hussein, we will get them and the Police administration has placed ₵20,000 on their head. Anybody or any member of the public who offers credible information that lead to their arrest will be given that amount”.

“Let me state again, ₵20,000 have been placed on their head and therefore, it is our wish that the members of the public will collaborate with the police to enable us get them to face justice”.

“Let me say that all the cohort, all their friends, those who finance their activities, those who support them operationally in their criminal machinations will be arrested, it is a question of time and we will make sure that we get them, ACP Kwesi Ofori said.

Nima- Maamobi deadly clash

The Bombom and the Kumordzi groups on Tuesday, January 18 afternoon engaged in a fatal clash at Nima and Maamobi in Accra resulting in some lost of lives and injuries.

The incident said to have occurred in front of the President’s resident at Nima, opposite the Nima police station saw irate youth fired guns and welded cutlasses in broad day light forcing residents to run for their lives.

Videos of their widely condemned activities have been making rounds on various Ghanaian social media platforms.
