NPP needs someone who can win election, not a rich man – Bawumia jabs Ken – Skyy Power FM
The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs a flagbearer who can win the 2024 presidential election and not a rich man.
Dr Bawumia who is contesting for the NPP flagbearship made this statement during his campaign tour in the Western Region at the Takoradi Constituency.
He said when it comes to winning an election, the candidate representing the party is crucial and him being the most experienced and feared among them, is the rightful person to lead and win power for the NPP.
He added that some of the contestants are claiming to have created more jobs individually and are also rich, hence, deserving to lead the party, but according to him, being wealthy does not determine your competence to lead.
He said, “We want someone who can break the 8 for the NPP at the 2024 election, we want a president, not a flagbearer and in looking for such a person, we don’t look for the rich but the one with vision, humility, maturity and track records for an effective president.”
“None of the presidents from the NPP lineage were rich men but leaders and that is what we are looking for. Even if you are a rich man and you become a leader, you will not use your money to work but the state’s money so that argument is already flawed.”
Dr Bawumia is continuing his tour in the Western Region in the Wassa East, Sekondi, Esikado Ketan, Shama and Kwesimintsim constituencies.
During his speech at the Wassa East Constituency, he said the religious propaganda against him being a Muslim will not materialise because he stands for unity.
Dr Bawumia also donated GHs100,000 towards the construction of a new party office at the Wassa East constituency.
