Vida Essel-LampteyThe cantilever roof on a portion of the on-going redevelopment at the Koforidua Jackson’s Park has fallen off.
The incident occurred after a windstorm Wednesday afternoon.
No casualty was recorded though some workers were busy working at the other end of the Jackson’s Park.
Residents have, however, questioned the quality of work being done and fear using it in future.
“My school is just behind,” one said, “we heard the sound, we got worried only to realise that it is from this place. Work hasn’t completed yet, but it’s already falling off. How can I have the courage to use the recreational facility when it is completed?”
“I am just surprised,” another said. “The thing was raised too high. Assuming they had finished and people were using it, would have been a disaster.”
Sod was cut for the redevelopment of the Jackson’s Park in 2021.
When completed, the project would have a car park, shops, a recreational centre and spaces for social activities.
The redevelopment forms part of a five-year project development plan under the Ghana Secondary City Development funded by the World Bank.
Four projects are under the programme initiated in 2019 – the Jackson’s Park Redevelopment, Nsukwao Basin, Ultra Modern Central Market and Mangoase Double Dekker Court.
