‘Pray for us,’ armed robbers tell passengers as they attack Takoradi bus
Five alleged armed robbers have attacked a Takoradi bus en route to Kumasi in the early hours of Monday, February 21.
According to a victim who spoke to Skyy Power 93.5FM after the attack, they set off at around 10 pm from Takoradi on Sunday and on their way, the robbers who were in the bus attacked at about 3:20 am on Monday.
Giving his account, he indicated whiles the bus was moving, the driver was picking passengers along the road which he confronted the driver’s aid (mate) but was ignored.
He said, “Though the bus was full, he was still picking passengers on the road which I queried the ‘mate’ and indicated what they are doing is not acceptable but I was ignored.”
“Exactly 3:20 am I heard 3 gunshots…I acted fast because I had about GHS12000 on me. I placed the money and my phone in a black polythene bag and pushed it under the seat and left only GH200 in my pocket.”
“The leader who was called ‘Killer’ instructed us to comport ourselves and further communicated that the operation is only 20 minutes and at exactly 20 minutes they were done and left.”
The victim made it known they reported the incident to the nearest Police Station at Anwia Nkwanta.
Also, only one person was hurt, a gentleman who tried to challenge the robbers during the operation as they hit him several times with their gun.
Before the robbers left, they passed on a very interesting message to the passengers which they stated that ‘there is no job in the country and it is not their wish to be doing this kind of job so the passengers should pray for them.’
