Residents of Ebenezer Heel Top in Kojokrom living in fear over series of robberies – Skyy Power FM

Residents of Ebenezer Heel Top in Kojokrom-Mpintin are living in fear as a series of robberies orchestrated by two individuals on a motorbike have struck the community.

The culprits target unsuspecting pedestrians, often ambushing them and making off with their valuables. These incidents have left residents feeling unsafe and demanding urgent action from local authorities.
In a recent interview with Mrs Aurthur, a victim of the robberies, she recounted her harrowing experiences with the assailants.

On a fateful Sunday, she and her husband had visited a nearby doctor, and while walking back home, they encountered a gentleman with a backpack.

As her husband stopped to relieve himself, Mrs Aurthur walked and approached an area with uncompleted buildings. Suddenly, a motorcycle with two individuals aboard crossed her path, causing her to shout alarmingly.

The person riding the pillion swiftly dismounted and positioned himself behind her. Mrs Aurthur’s husband, alerted by her distress, confronted the perpetrators, who responded in a language resembling that of the Ewe ethnic group.

After realizing Mrs Aurthur wasn’t alone, the robbers quickly retreated, apologizing for their actions. She demanded that they clear the way for her, which they did before speeding off.

Unfortunately, Mrs Aurthur’s encounter with the robbers did not end there. Another incident occurred when she went out to buy cassava another day in the afternoon, accompanied by her daughter.

Cautiously aware of the recent wave of robberies in the area, she instructed her daughter to put away her phone. As they returned home, they noticed a motorcycle approaching.

Sensing danger, Mrs. Aurthur immediately recognized them as the same robbers. Fearful for their safety, she began shouting the name of God, prompting the criminals to momentarily flee.

However, realizing that the victims were the only people on the road, they doubled back. Mrs Aurthur and her daughter quickly sought refuge by standing in front of a nearby house, providing the robbers with the opportunity to pass unimpeded.

As they made their escape, the mother and daughter sprinted towards home, but the sound of the motorcycle still echoed in their ears, serving as a reminder of the constant threat lurking in their neighbourhood.

Mr Arthur, Mrs Aurthur’s husband, corroborated his wife’s experiences and expressed concern over the escalating situation. He disclosed that their neighbourhood had become a hotbed for criminal activities, with these two individuals, estimated to be between 25 and 28 years old, responsible for multiple robberies.

They specifically targeted vulnerable individuals, particularly women travelling alone. Mr Arthur recounted a similar incident where his wife was approached by the robbers, but their plan was thwarted when they realized she wasn’t alone. He emphasized that the culprits continue to ambush and rob unsuspecting victims in broad daylight, bringing a sense of insecurity to the community.

The residents of Ebenezer Heel Top are now living in constant fear, demanding immediate action from local authorities and law enforcement agencies to curb the rising crime wave.

They seek increased patrols, community awareness programs, and enhanced security measures to protect themselves from further harm.

As the neighbourhood battles this ongoing threat, the affected residents remain on high alert, hoping for a swift resolution to restore peace and security to their once-tranquil community.
