The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly Mr Abdul Issah Mumin says security over the years in the metropolis has remained calm and serene with few incidences of petty theft.
However, with the effort of the Metro Security Council, in exercising its mandate, strategies are being worked on to ensure the peaceful environment envisaged for the Metropolis, he noted.
As the yuletide gets closer, he urged residents to be more vigilant and not hesitate to report to the police, suspicious characters or acts in respective communities.
He made this known at the 3rd Ordinary Meeting of the 4th session of the Eight Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly on Wednesday, December 13.
Mr Abdul Issah Mumin also revealed that the Government had reverted property rate collection for 2023 back to the MMDAs.
He said, “Consequently, the Metro Coordinating Director has put together a three-member team comprising the Metro Finance Officer, the Metro Internal Auditor and the Metro Budget Analyst to work at preparing and distributing bills for 2023. It is our fervent hope we rake in revenue as much as we can before the Christmas break. Hon. Members, we hope to count on the support of Hon. Members in this regard.”
The MCE also addressed the Tuesday, December 19, District Level Elections noting the bias towards female Hon. Members.
He said is justifiable and understandable considering that the Assembly system currently has the lowest female representation of any decision-making body in Ghana.
“Sincerely, I believe we can all help to improve the situation by encouraging more female participation in the upcoming district-level elections,” he noted
