Sekondi-Takoradi Bolt drivers to quit night services

Some Bolt drivers in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis have vowed to quit night services due to increased attacks on them.

This comes after the murder of a Bolt driver who is also a Naval Officer at Sekondi Baka-ano when three Senior High School (SHS) students set him ablaze in a struggle to snatch his vehicle.

The students were arrested in connection to the murder and have been remanded into police custody by the court until Tuesday, January 14, 2022, for reappearance.

Some drivers speaking to Skyy Power 93.FM made it known, a majority of them have taken the decision to quit night services as they are in fear of their lives.

According to them, the attacks on online drivers has become rampant these days especially in the Metropolis and are scared to lose their lives hence the decision to play it safe.

A driver who spoke to Nana Yaw Kumi of Skyy Power FM said, “A majority of us have taken the decision to quit night services due to an increase in attacks on us, this will seriously affect our passengers but it is the best decision for our own safety.

“Night services will become expensive because there will not be enough vehicles for the increased demands which will probably skyrocket the transport fares.”
