Sekondi-Takoradi Deserves Better demo comes off on Friday

Some youth in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis will embark on a demonstration on Friday, October 27, over the deplorable nature of infrastructure in the region.

The convenor of the upcoming demonstration in the Metropolis dubbed Sekondi-Takoradi Deserves Better, Mr Samuel Gyimah Appiah, popularly known as Bishop says the action is not an attack on any political leader but on heads of various institutions responsible for development.

He says there is a need for this action since the city has been deprived of the needed development and infrastructure, as roads keep deteriorating. Businesses keep collapsing with no one to hold them accountable.

Mr Gyimah said this peaceful demonstration is to seek accountability from institutional heads and to get the city the development it deserves.

Setting the records straight, he remarked that the demonstration is not politically influenced but it is a call by the youth of the Metropolis.

“We don’t have any self-interest, we just want the betterment of Sekondi-Takoradi, so we’re going to block the road. The tag on this demonstration is Hashtag, Sekondi-Takoradi deserves better so the MP for Sekondi, Hon. Egyapa Mercer, is in support of whatever is going on just that people want to politicize this demonstration:

He says their expectation in this demonstration is to see the maintenance culture being implemented and underperforming heads of institutions responsible for the development dismissed.
