A newly constructed ultra-modern public toilet facility at Mpatado in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality of the Western Region has been a problem for residents and business owners around the area.
The sewage of the toilet facility at Mpatado has been linked to the public drains in the community making wastewater flow into the homes of residents and businesses in the area.
This is now a major problem for residents and business owners in the area as the wastewater generates a stench and is also a potential threat to their health in the community.
Some residents who spoke to Skyy News indicated that living in Mpatado is becoming a living hell as their streets are filled with wastewater and the stench is however unbearable.
According to the affected residents at Mpatado, they have made several complaints to the Environmental Health Department of Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) and are yet to see any change in the situation.
The Skyy News team followed this up and contacted the Environmental Health Analyst of EKMA, Mr Benjamin Baah to see the progress so far since complaints were lodged by residents.
Speaking to Skyy News, he indicated that he has been to the location to inspect the situation and found the problem worrying, he also stated a few problems concerning the construction of their septic tank and others for which a guideline has been given to the owners.
Mr Baah assured the aggrieved residents the problem will be permanently solved within the week.
