Shama DCE urges youth to be innovative and create their own businesses – Skyy Power FM

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Shama District Assembly, Mr Ebenezer Dadzie is urging the youth to take advantage and participate government’s YouStart initiative which will give grants to some innovative individuals to start their businesses.

Speaking at the commissioning of Roland Rice Factory in Shama, a local business that produces local rice, funded by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, the DCE said the youth should have a plan and be innovative because the government is ever ready to support them.

He said the youth in Shama should follow the steps of Roland Rice and not only look up to gaining employment in the public sector because if they can all open up businesses, it will also boost the economy of Shama District and reduce unemployment as well.

He said, ” We should encourage our youth to try and start their own business because the government is ready to support them… An example is the YouStart Initiative which applicants will soon start training in the Shama District.”

“Roland rice will help boost the local economy because the employees are all from the District and the assembly will also task the company, so the revenue from the factory will circulate in the district which will help the Shama Economy.”

Some farmers in the Shama District were grateful for the rice factory as it opened up the market and expedite the sale of their rice.
