The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Shama District Assembly, Mr Ebenezer Dadzie says the leading cause of motor accidents in the district is speeding.

Speaking on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show (JBS) on Wednesday, January 25, Mr Dadzie said even though the roads in the district are in a deplorable state, motorists over speed and that leads to a lot of accidents in his jurisdiction.

This comes after two (2) students of the Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI) whiles riding a motorbike to school had a head-on collision with a Renault saloon car when both vehicles were avoiding a pothole on Monday.

He said, “Even though the roads are in a deplorable state, these motorists do not take their time when using such stretch. Imagine if the roads are fixed to standard, what do you think will happen on the road?”

“I believe the accident involving the students came as a result of speeding because if they were not speeding, they would have been able to avoid the pothole easily and avoid the collision.”
