Wesley Girls' 2000 year group set to establish resource centre for school

The 1999 Year Group of Wesley Girls Senior High School in Takoradi organized a small handing over ceremony to see off the 2000 year group as they embarked on their journey to host the school’s annual Speech Day.

The 2000 Year Group of Wesley Girls High School is set to give back to the school after 20 years of their departure.

As tradition demands, the old girls of the prestigious Wesley Girls School in Cape Coast are entrusted to host the school’s annual anniversary after 20 years of completion and establish a project as well.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2000 year group is hosting in 2022.

Mavis Asoma, a member of the 2000 year group speaking to Skyy Power 93.5FM before leaving for the Speech day, said that they are establishing a resource centre for the school.

According to her, the school has given them so much and as a way of giving back, they are embarking on such an important project to show their appreciation to their Alma Mata.

She added that the resource centre is a three (3) storey building. One of the floors will be for an administration and the remaining two, the main resource centres to help both the staff and students.

“We are starting the three-storey building project and we are doing the administration block at the bottom, the second and the third blocks will be done by the 2001 and 2002 year group after we are done with the first,” she said.

In Takoradi, the 1999 Year Group organized a small handing over ceremony at the Anaji Choice mart to see off the 2000 group as they embarked on their journey to the school and also wished them good luck on their project since they were the last group to host the Speech Day.

Present at the ceremony in Takoradi were members of the Western Region Old Girls Association and the President of the Association, Mrs Adwoa Amofah Arthur.
