The Political Affairs Director of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Lawyer Kwame Jantuah has asked the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta to use the platform provided by the Ad-Hoc Committee of Parliament to tender in his resignation.

Two things, first the finance Minister should come and his evidence should be beyond all reasonable doubt, water tight, where nobody can punch holes into his evidence. Water tight,” he said.

“Two things, for me, his evident should be beyond reasonable, no doubt whatsoever,” Mr Jantuah emphasized.

“No. 2. If he comes, he should use that platform to tell Ghanaians he is resigning,” he added.

Ofori-Atta responds to vote of Censure today

Mr Jantuah made the call on NewDay on TV3 monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Friday November 18.

Mr Minister of Finane, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta is before the Ad-Hoc Committee of Parliament today, to respond to a vote of censure passed against him by Minority caucus in Parliament on November 10.

He is expected to answer the allegations of despicable conflict of interest, unconstitutional withdrawal from the consolidated fund, illegal payment of oil revenue into offshore accounts, deliberate and dishonest misrepresentation of economic figures to Parliament leveled against him by the Minority MPs.

Others are fiscal recklessness leading to the crash of the Ghana Cedi, alarming incompetence and frightening ineptitude as well as gross mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy.

The Minister is before the committee following several demands for his resignation over the ailing Ghanaian economy which has made life difficulty for the citizenry and seen the Ghanaian Cedi fall heavily against major trading currencies in the world, especially, the US dollars.

The seven-member committee was set up by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin when he admitted the Minority’s motion for vote of censure.

It is to investigate the allegations made against the minister and also give the minister a fair hearing.
