A Former Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem North and Member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP)‘s Communication team, Mr Denis Miracle Aboagye has urged famed Ghanaian teacher, Micheal Owusu Afriye, known in the showbiz circles as Teacher Kwadwo not to allow his campaign, #FixGES to be diluted.
According to him, the advocacy adopted by him to draw attention to the challenges of the country’s educational sector was a good cause and need not be made mockery of.
He noted he was in support of the campaign adding that making sarcasm of such serious issues could derail the good intentions for which it was instituted and advised him to refrain from such.
Mr Aboakye made the comment on TV3 NewDay monitored by GhanaPlus.com on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
He was commenting about to post made by the #FixGES campaigner some days ago about a laptop which exploded when a colleague teacher attempted to install Window 10 on it.
“The other thing I wanted to draw attention to was that, yesterday Teacher Kwadwo did something that I hope it doesn’t repeat it. This is a very good call and I support it. I have rural communities in my area, I know the challenges that they face. I have been a DCE before, I have superintendent over education, I know how much challenges we have in there. If you start a campaign like this it is important you do not allow it to be diluted,” he said.
“Because yesterday morning, he made a Facebook post and said a teacher tried installing windows 10 on a teacher’s laptop this morning and he showed a picture of a laptop that is exploding? which actually turns out not to be true”. “How is that sarcasm?. Can we say the videos he is showing is also sarcasm?”
He described the post made by Teacher Kwadwo as untrue and noted that no laptop in the world irrespective of how old it was would explode when being upgraded with a software and advice him to refrain from such sarcasms going forward.
“It is just an advice because I support the call, I support the call, it is just an advice so that the cause that he is taken that all of us want to rally behind is not diluted because if you get sarcastic with serious things like this, even the laptops has not been distributed,” he emphasised.
Teacher Kwadwo begins #FixGES campaign
Teacher Kwadwo, a professional Ghanaian teacher, a comic actor and United Showbiz fame has begun a campaign to draw the attention of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to fix the challenges in the sector and make it better.
His campaign had already gathered support across board as it had expose deficiencies in the sector in the areas of infrastructures, resources, teacher support, logistics , accessibility among many others.
Many have already thrown their support behind the call and urged him to continue the good work.
