Let me act like a Pontius Pilate: Edudzi Tamakloe on Kissi Agyebeng's responds to Martin Amidu

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe on Friday, October 1, refuse to comment about the Special Prosecutor, Mr Kissi Agyebeng’s responds to criticism profess on him by the former Special Prosecutor, Mr Martin Amindu.

According to him, he prefers to behave like the biblical Pontius Pilate and wash his hands of the case which he described as very strong.

“Bra Kwame, you let me act like a Pontius Pilate, give me soap and water and let me wash my hands off this case, it’s very strong,” he said.

Mr Edudzi Tamakloe made the comment in an interview on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia on Friday, October 1, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.

Martin Amidu don’t know me

Mr Kissi Agyebeng while reacting to comments and criticism made by Mr Martin Amidu following his appointment as the Special Prosecutor on Kokrokroo on Peace FM on Thursday, September 30 said Mr Amidu do not know him else he would not have spoken the way he did about his credibility.

He touted he was entrusted with the role of Criminal Law lecturer at Ghana’s premier University, University of Ghana,Legon at age 28, if age was anything to by adding he was capable of handling the responsibility bestowed on him by the state.

“The person who said that was only speaking on here say, he doesn’t know me, if he knows me, he will not say that. Anybody who knows me know that he spoke on hear say”.

Do not defame me in the propaganda to nominate a new Special Prosecutor

The former Special Prosecutor, Mr Martin Amidu in one of his epistles titled ‘Do not defame me in the propaganda to nominate a new Special Prosecutor’ described Mr Kissi Agyebeng as a surrogate of the Assase radio, a radio station owned by the President cousin, ‘Agyapa Surrogate Special Prosecutor’, a puddle among many others.

Mr Amidu believed, Mr Agyebeng’s association with the President’s cousin, Mr Gabby Otchere Darko and the Attorney General, Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame only mean he would be doing the bidding of the President and his associate.

“……..It must, therefore, be worrying to any patriotic Ghanaian not afraid of the culture of silence to see Asaase Radio undertaking political propaganda beginning on 25^thApril 2021 to 26^thApril 2021 to prepare the minds of the Ghanaian and international public to accept the surrogate of the alter ego of the Asaase Radio station and Africa Legal Associates as the Special Prosecutor as mandated under section 4(1) of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2018 (Act 959). In the attempt of persons implicated in the Agyapa Royalties Transaction corruption assessment report to pressurize the President to appoint their surrogate as the Special Prosecutor to safeguard their interests, the online reportage of Asaase Radio resorted to direct fabrications, lies, and omissions against me in its narration of the reasons for my resignation”.

“Asaase Radio and the nominator of the proposed new Special Prosecutor know or ought to have known the extent of the involvement of their surrogate as a lawyer for suspects in pending suspected corruption cases in which the Government showed an undue interest in the Office of the Special Prosecutor which I await to see how independently and impartially those cases will be handled to conclusion should the President submit the name of the nominee to Parliament, he is approved, and then appointed. I read Sir Sam Jonah’s expose on impunity, corruption, and other “isms” militating against the fight against corruption in Government and the economy before reading the series of propaganda publications by Asaase Radio on its preferred and proposed new Special Prosecutor. No impartial observer can disagree with Sir Sam Jonah’s reflections except beneficiaries of the system who loot from the public purse. The fight against corruption in Ghana has been and is still in State Capture. Mark my words!,” part of his letter dated April 29, reads.
