Let’s be sensitive in selecting party executives – NPP Communicator
Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been urged to be sensitive in selecting party executives as they are the foundation that will help break the eight-year jinx.
Mr Kwabena Adom Manas, a former Deputy Communication Director of the China branch of the NPP, said breaking the eight-year jinx was not a joke as that would require reliable, competent, tried, tested and experienced leadership at the grassroots, constituency, regional and national levels to achieve.
“In modern-day politics, you need a majority to win but not everybody. The choice of candidates determines how the electorate will vote, how to win the majority, and how to hold on to power,” he explained.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Goaso in the Ahafo Region, Mr Manas, popularly known as Sir Kam, said: “We need well experienced hands that are not going to experiment, but who have seen it all to truly break the eight”.
“The battle for supremacy in governance between the NPP and NDC since 1992 has become an eight-year baton where power changes hands from one party to another no matter the performance of the government of the day”.
Mr Manas said the chances of the NPP in the 2024 election depended on the kind of leadership the delegates would choose and asked them to allow the interest of the party to surpass their personal interests and select competent executives.
