The President simply talks too much – NPP’s Elvis Botah on latest Corruption Perception Index

A former Deputy National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Elvis Banoemuleng Botah, has taking on the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following the country’s position on the latest corruption perception index released by Transparency International.

Corruption Perception Index: Ghana ranked 72, scored 43%

Ghana placed 72nd in the 2022 edition of the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) out of 180 countries and was scored 43 out of a total of 100.

Speaking on Good Morning Africa on Pan African TV, on Thursday, February 2, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, Mr Botah said the President simply talks too much without any action to augment his talks and that explains where Ghana is currently.

“The President simply talks too much and does nothing to augments the talking, that is the problem we have. So much so that it is not only within government, it is a matter that has affected the general culture of the NPP as a party and so if you watch critically there is this silence of culture both in the NPP and in government,” he said.

“A lot of NPP members are not happy with the situation, some people in government are not happy with the situation but because of the culture of silence, the extent of fear, how they come out you when you speak, no body want to talk. A strategy to intimidate people to close their eyes and pretend to sleep so that they can just carry things away”. he added.

Corruption Perception Index: Elvis Botah blames President

Mr Botah is of the view, the President’s posture and failure to crack the whip when necessary is to be blamed for the latest ranking.

“The entire problem we have with corruption in this country and under this administration is nothing beyond the personality and attitude of the President, it ends there. There is no debate about it because if you charter a path of leadership that creates the room for impunity, and indisciple, you cannot expect to reap anything good”.

“Even Jesus Christ in his apostolic  enterprise had to cane people at some point in the church so a father who cannot cane his son to get him to do what is right and proper is a father who is in support of the criminality of his son and that is what is happening in the NPP government,” he referenced.

We have arrived at whatever ranking on the corruption perception index simply because the posture of the president is a posture that does not show any example of punishing children for the purpose of what is right and proper and what the means is that you cannot be wrong to safely conclude that the President is at the helm of the criminal syndicate that perpetrate corruption,” Mr Botah said.
