The founding member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has advised Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, Bryan Acheampong to withdraw the statement he made during the party’s unity walk in Kwahu in the Eastern Region and render an unqualified apology to Ghanaians.
According to him, the statement was destructive, unlawful, unguided, unnecessary and goes against the tenet of the country’s democracy and the 1992 constitution.
Nyaho Nyaho-Tamkloe gave the advice in a statement sighted by GhanaPlus.com on Sunday, April 8.
The NPP stalwart indicated Mr Bryan Acheampong’s statement is also irresponsible and can “without doubt,….. lead this nation into destruction beyond the extent the Akufo Addo government has caused”.
“I am writing as an elderly citizen of Ghana and a founding member of the New Patriotic Party who cannot sit down unconcerned in the face of such destructive political statement by some recalcitrant elements in the political class. Without doubt, the statement by Bryan Acheampong can lead this nation into destruction beyond the extent the Akufo Addo government has caused”.
“The statement made recently by Mr. Bryan Acheampong during the NPP Unity Walk at Kwahu on the 8th of April 2023 is not only irresponsible, but also violent and destructive; a statement that is senseless and uncalled for. For Mr. Bryan Acheampong, a cabinet minister of the Republic of Ghana, to have said that “the NPP government will not hand over power to the NDC” even if the opposition wins, and that “whichever way we will employ to ensure NPP stays in power beyond 2024, we will employ”, is not only directed at the NDC, but it is a dangerous threat to our democracy and the 1992 constitution,” part of Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe’s statement reads.
“In conclusion, I advise Mr. Bryan Acheampong to as a matter of urgency, withdraw and render an unqualified apology to the good people of Ghana for making such destructive, unlawful, unguided, unnecessary and unintelligent political statement. Our time is for sound argument on bread-and-butter issues, not hooliganism. Thank you,” he advised.
NPP will never hand over power to NDC
Mr Bryan Acheampong, a member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency and recently approved Minster for Food and Agriculture on Saturday, April 8 told a charged NPP party faithful’s gathered inside Mpraeso township after a unity walk that the party will show the NDC they have the men should they adopt any threat, aggressiveness and foolishness come 2024 elections.
He also indicated there was no way the ruling government will hand over power to its main opposition party adding that they will employ any means possible to make sure power stays with the NPP.
“If they intend to use any threat, aggressiveness and foolishness in 2024, we will show them that we have the man. We have the men,” he said.
“For we the NPP party which is in power now, for us to stand on a platform and hand over power to the NDC, it will never happen.
“It will never happen!, it will never happen!, it will never happen!, it will not!,” Bryan Acheampong said repeatedly.
“Anything possible that we will do to ensure that 2024 elections NPP will be in power, we will,” he added.
The statement has since received wide condemnations across the country, especially, from the opposition NDC.
