Renowned Journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr has said a defeat for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential bid will be damaging for the party’s chances in the 2024 elections .
He has therefore advice him not to contest the up coming presidential race of the party if he had any ambition of doing so.
Mr Pratt Jnr made the remark on Thursday, October 7, on Pan African TV’s Good Morning African monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He made remarks while reacting to media report about the race to the NPP flag bearer ship elections ahead of the 2024 general elections.
According to him, Dr Bawumia does not appear a situation candidate for the party at the moment adding it would be in his best interest not to harbor any such ambitions.
“From what we all do no, he doesn’t appear to be a strong candidate at all. If I were him, If I were him, I will not contest, if I were Dr Mahamudu Bawumia I will not contest this election. Because if he contest it can do substantial damage to the New Patriotic party, imagine he contest and losses , it will be a statesman from the party that it is in itself not satisfied with the records of his administration over the last four years and that will be potentially damaging to the party in the next election . If he contest and won by a small, it will still be a clear statement,” he said.
According to Mr Pratt, if what happens to the country’s former Vice President, Alhaji Alui Mahama was anything to go by then, it would be unwise for the Vice President to compete in the presidential race when his tenure ends with the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
