Cape Coast court has sentence to death by hanging, the killer of the region’s based dancehall artiste Unruly Grank, known in real life as Emmanuel Aikins.

Graphic online report sighted by GhanaPlus.com said the High Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Lodoh on Wednesday, Jan 18, 2023 sentenced Bright Ellis, commonly known in the region as Shadow to death for stabbing the musician.

‘Unruly Grank , 24, met his untimely death on February 7, 2021 after Bright Ellis, 27, and an artisan  stabbed him in a brawl at the Orange Beach Resort in Cape Coast.

The musician known for songs like Bompa‘, ‘Six Packs’, ‘Pull Up’ and host of others was pronounced dead on arrival at the Cape Coast Hospital shortly after.

Graphiconline report said “Police prosecutors told the court that a scuffle ensued between fans of Unruly Grank and another dancehall artiste in the Cape Coast over who was more popular.

The two were said to have met at the Cape Coast Castle for a ‘rap battle’ but the event turned bloody and their fans resulted to a fight during which Grank was stabbed.

Ellis sustained a cut on his left hand, subsequently made a report at the police station against the deceased and was issued with medical forms but was later arrested by the police to assist with investigations”.

Prior to his death,  Unruly Grank ,the dance-hall sensation had challenged one Kahpun to a lyrical contest on social media making series of post to that effect on twitter.

In one of the post he wrote, “Candymann Lucus Mensah set up a sting and anybody who’s ready to face ..Make dem show dem face… murder”.

In another he wrote, “Kahpun is the one I wanna tear his head…Candymann Lucus Mensah no need to talk plenty”.

Subsequently, a lyrical clash was announced between the self acclaimed dancehall King of Cape Coast, Unruly Grank and Kahpun by Renownmuziks Dotnet.

His last post read “It a world wide connect… just type the name on google and read the result yourself”.

Unruly Grank came to the lime light with is breakthrough single “Jah Know” which won him the best Dancehall song of the year at the Central Music Awards in 2018.
