Ghana should prioritize ‘Waakye’ instead of fighting with Nigeria over Senegal ‘Jollof’
Veteran Ghanaian musician, Reggie Rockstone born Reginald Yaw Asante Osei has called on Ghanaians to prioritize Waakye over Jollof rice.
He said instead of arguing with Nigeria over Jollof which belongs to Senegal, it’s prudent to rather uphold Waakye which comes from Ghana in high esteem.
“Whilst we are angry fighting with Nigeria over whose Jollof is best, meanwhile Jollof doesn’t belong to us and it comes from Senegal,” he stated on Cape Coast’s Property FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com
“Once again our own food which belongs to us which is waakye has been neglected and we’re rather fighting others for what belongs to someone else.
“So all these while, we’re championing Jollof but we’ve forgotten that it’s from Senegal instead of prioritizing waakye which comes from Ghana.
When you look at waakye’s features and special effects that surround it and you compare it to Jollof, you’ll realize Jollof is nowhere near waakye,” he said during an interview with Amansan Krakye.
