Ghana’s collapsed Movie Industry will bounce back ‘very soon’

Celebrated Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo has disclosed that the local movie industry has collapsed but he’s hopeful it will bounce back very soon.

Speaking on Cape Coast’s Kastle FM in an interview with Amansan Krakye, the award-wining movie star said that he strongly believes that Ghanaians will soon start enjoying our local movies again.

“The movie industry has gone down a little bit but I’m hoping it would bounce back again,” John Dumelo told the host of Kastle Drive. 

He added, “So that’s not really a problem I know that definitely going forward our movie industry will come back on its feet for us to enjoy Ghanaian movies again”.

John Dumelo who studied Civil Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has acted in several films reiterated that he’s still actively doing movies.

“Still I’m actively into acting movies and I do get movie roles,” he remarked.

There is a growing controversy among actors in the industry over the collapse of the industry particularly in Ghana.

Whereas some have admitted the situations leaves much to be desired, others are of the view that the introduction of foreign content like soap operas, telenovellas is to blame for the nosedive of the movie industry which needs to the resuscitated with calls on government to inject some resources into venues among other things.
