Music is not just about producing “sweet songs”
Highlife Musician and Lynx Entertainment signed artiste has advised colleagues and especially young musicians to be intentional about marketing their music.
To him, music is not just about going to the studio to record but also about the effort put in marketing then craft and the final piece.
He noted that some young artistes are of the thinking that since the music is good, the song needs to sell itself but that has always not been the case.
He indicated that a few posts on Instagram and TikTok will not make the magic but constant effort from the artiste and his/her team will make the dream work.
“Music is not just about going to the studio and recording the song and posting on Instagram for a few days. You need to be intentional, me for example it will shock you to know that I don’t like TikTok like that but I recognise the power of it.
I realise that if I do this and that it can help so I will be in my room and be dancing. I’m not a dancer but when you see me, you see that I’m always dancing and I look stupid but I know what I’m trying to get out of it,” he said in an interview with Kwadwo Sheldon.
Social media is currently playing a key role in the marketing of music with the diverse platforms available to especially the youth.
