2021 AFCON: Fegafoot president Alain Mounguengui tips Gabon to advance from Group C ahead of Ghana
The President of the Gabonese Football Federation (Fegafoot), Pierre Alain Mounguengui has tipped the Panthers to advance from Group C of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament ahead of Ghana.
According to him, the Black Stars are feared because they have history in the competition. For him however, Gabon have a strong team and will change the narrative.
“Some teams, like Ghana and Morocco, are feared simply because of their name. But very frankly, our hen [group] is playable. We have a card to play, like all the other teams,” Pierre Alain Mounguengui said after the 2021 AFCON draw last Tuesday.
The Fegafoot president continued, “We are involved in this competition, it is to go as far as possible. We have every chance of getting out of the group stage.”
Besides Ghana, Gabon is in Group C with Comoros and Morocco.
The Panthers are set to play their first match of the tournament against Comoros on January 11.
