2021 Africa Cup of Nations: Ghana to officially open camp next week Wednesday

The senior national team, the Black Stars of Ghana will officially open camp in Qatar next week Wednesday with all the players invited for the tournament flying out to the team’s training camp from their respective clubs.

The Black Stars will camp in Qatar for three weeks before they travel to Cameroon for the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nation [Afcon].

The tournament has been slated to kick off from January 9 to February 6, 2022.

The Black Stars will play three international friendly matches in Qatar to give Coach Milovan Rajevac the opportunity to assess his squad for the Tournament.

Ghana are expected to play a yet-to-named club side on Tuesday, December 28, before taking on one of the Africa Cup of Nations qualified teams on Friday, January 1, 2022, in another friendly.

The team will wrap up their test matches against African Champions Algeria on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

The Black Stars will depart Doha for Yaoundé on Friday, January 7, 2022.

Ghana is in Group C alongside Morocco, Gabon and Comoros

The Black Stars will face North African side Morocco in the opening group C game in Yaounde.

Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac is expected to announce his provisional squad for the AFCON tournament in the coming days.

Ghana will be hoping to win the ultimate to end it 40 year trophy drought.
