2022 WCQ: Ex-Nigeria star wants coach Austin to lead Super Eagles in final hurdle against Ghana

Former Nigerian midfielder, Henry Nwosu has urged the Nigeria Football Federations (NFF) to keep coach Augustine Eguavoen as the Super Eagles head coach for the final hurdle in the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The West African giants have been drawn against rivals Ghana in the playoff of the Africa qualifiers for this year’s global mundial.

Amid talk of coach Augustine Eguavoen leaving his role as interim Nigeria head coach, ex-player Henry Nwosu says the gaffer should be allowed to handle the team for both matches against the Black Stars later this year.

“I have never doubted Eguavoen’s technical and tactical know-how in the round leather game. I really think he has done a good job with the team despite their ouster from the AFCON tournament,” Henry Nwosu told Completesports.

The former Nigeria midfielder added, “It’s in this regard I believe he has what it takes to overcome the Black Stars of Ghana for a slot in the 2022 World Cup playoff.”

The first of the two meetings between the Black Stars and the Super Eagles will be played in Ghana in late March.
