2022 World Cup qualifiers: Still no space for Thomas Partey due to injury as Alexander Djiku returns for crucial decider against South Africa

The Black Stars has been boosted by the return of Alexander Djiku in their squad for the crucial Group G game against South Africa tonight.

The Strasbourg centre back was suspended for the matchday 5 game against Ethiopia at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

After a disappointing performance by Joseph Aidoo, Djiku takes his place in the team.

However, deputy captain of the team, Thomas Partey could not join the team due to injury.

The Arsenal midfielder missed the game against Ethiopia and was expected to team up with his teammates for the final game tonight but could not show up.

Partey suffered a groin thigh injury at the training grounds before their game against Watford.

The Black Stars need to beat South Africa to secure a place in the playoffs next year.

The four-time African champions sit 2nd with 10 points with the Bafana Bafana occupying the top spot with 13 points.

Ghana is seeking to return to the global showpiece in Qatar next having missed out on the last edition hosted in Russia in 2018.
