2023 AFCON qualifiers: Jonathan Mensah, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Wakaso return to Black Stars for upcoming games
The trio of Jonathan Mensah, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Mubarak Wakaso have been recalled into the Black Stars squad ahead of the upcoming games in the qualifiers to the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Ghana is set to play the first two matches of the qualifiers in early June. Hoping to secure wins in the two games, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has named a 33-man squad.
The strong squad despite coming with a few shocking omissions sees some interesting additions as well.
Jonathan Mensah, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Mubarak Wakaso who missed the playoff of the world cup qualifiers against Nigeria in March have been recalled to the national team.
Meanwhile, captain Andre Ayew who also had to miss the two games due to suspension has returned to the team.
Ghana will take on Madagascar on June 1 before going on to face off with the Central African Republic on June 5.
