Abass and Ampem combine to destroy Hajduk
Hajduk lost to Rijeka 2: 1 in the match of the 7th round of the HNL in Poljud. The scorers for Rijeka were Tomecak and Drmic, and for Hajduk the goal was scored by Elez.
Rijeka won the Adriatic derby first thanks to its Ghanaian tandem Ampem-Abass, which destroyed Hajduk’s defense in the first 45 minutes. After the first half, Hajduk had to be overjoyed that they were only two goals behind because the impression was that Rijeka could have scored a few more goals.
Abass and Ampem destroyed Hajduk in the first 45 minutes.
Hajduk started extremely offensively and threw everything into the attack, which proved to be a big problem because there was too much space left behind, and this was masterfully used by fast-footed dribblers Ampem and Abbas. A particularly hard blow for the hosts was an injury to Lovrencsics who got injured in the 10th minute so Gustafsson had to put stopper Dell on the right flank. Rijeka knew how to use that very well because Hajduk does not have a real replacement for the great Hungarian at this moment.
The unfortunate Dell sponsored the first goal of Rijeka because he could not catch Ampem, who outscored him on the out-line and threw the ball into the middle where Pavicic beat Posavac, and from the rebound Tomecak scored for 1: 0.
Ampem made a show with the second goal when he passed several players in the style of Messi, he added for Drmic, who deceived Simić brilliantly and hit the opposite corner.
In the continuation, Rijeka withdrew, became powerless, and Hajduk dominated and was constantly on half of the guests. Elez scored at the best time, right at the beginning of the second half, but Hajduk did not manage to equalize until the end and save at least one point.
