AFCON 2021: Ghana squad taking shape as trio join teammates in camp

Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations squad is gradually taking shape as the tournament fast approaches.

This follows the latest news that 3 foreign-based players have joined their colleagues in camp.

England-based trio of Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace), Daniel Amartey (Leicester City) and Jojo Wollacott (Swindon Town). All players have reported to the team’s pre-tournament camping base in Doha, Qatar after finally given the permission to represent their country by their respective employers.

This adds to the already reported players in camp who number up to 18.

The remaining players yet to report for camp are captain Andre Ayew (whose club side Al Sadd play on Monday evening), Thomas Partey (Arsenal), Baba Iddrisu (Real Mallorca), Baba Rahman (Reading) Andy Yiadom (Reading), Abdul Moomin (Vitória Guimarães SC) and Sadat Seidu (Clermont Foot).

Ghana will play a pre-tournament friendly with reigning African champions Algeria. The Black Stars need this game to ready themselves for their AFCON 2021 group opener against Morocco on Monday January 10.

The team will then face Gabon and Comoros on January 14 and 18 respectively.
