AFCON 2021: We are Ghana, we are going to win the last game and qualify – Andre Ayew 

Ghana captain Andre Ayew is confident about the Black Stars chances despite sharing the spoils in their second Group C game against Gabon at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations on Friday.

The Black Stars conceded in the 89th minute to draw with the Panthers in a match Ghana needed to win to stand a good chance of progressing to the knockout stage.

Captain Andre Ayew led by example by scoring a stunning opening goal for the Black Stars.

His 10th goal at the AFCON looked to have secured three points for Black Stars, but Jim Allevinah struck from close range late on.

Andre Ayew put Ghana in front midway through the first half but his strike was cancelled out by Gabon sub Jim Allevinah’s 88th-minute equaliser.

Ghana will take on Comoros in their final group game on Monday.

Speaking after the game, the Al Sadd star expressed optimism about the Black Stars qualification despite going two games without a win.

“Is very small of them and i am disappointed in them but no problem, we are Ghana and we are going to keep the last game and go through” he said.

He added Ghana should have had the ball after intentionally kicking the ball out since a Ghanaian player was a on the floor but said that did not happen leading to the equaliser.

“The Ghanaian player was on the floor, we had the ball, we put the ball out intentionally because our player was on the floor so when the ball is coming you give it back to Ghana simple as that. So we were waiting for the ball to come back but the ball is not coming back and they play and that is how they got their only open chance of the game, that is it”
