The Battle of the returnees pits two sides making a return to Africa’s major showpiece for the first time in a long while.
Ethiopia are making their bow at the AFCON for the first since 2013 and will have to contend on the opening day with Cape-Verde who are also returning to the tournament since 2015.
The two sides know very well this game will be key in influencing each other’s qualification hopes as they both face tougher clashes after this.
This will be the first ever meeting amongst the two sides at the AFCON.
With both sides having unsuccessful campaigns during the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, the African Cup of Nations will offer them the opportunity to provide their fans with something to cheer about.
