AFCON 2022: Ghana goalie Ofori doubtful for South Africa clash

The Black Stars of Ghana are likely to be without goalkeeper Richard Ofori for the 2022 Africa Cup of National qualifier against South Africa after the shot stopper picked an injury on Wednesday.

The goalkeeper was stretched off while in post for Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League clash with Algerian side ES Setif.

The Black Stars of Ghana will come up against South Africa and Sao Time & Principe in the the 2022 AFCON qualifier later this month.

With Ofori taken off just 12 minutes into the game, it remains doubtful whether he can recover for the double header in the AFCON qualifiers.

Ofori immediately went down and called for medical attention after releasing a long kick from his goal area.

The former Maritzburg goalie was immediately stretched off by the medical team and was replaced immediately by Siyabonga Mpontshane.

The extent of the injury is yet to be known but Akonnor will certainly sweat over the injury of the goalie who appears to be in great pain.

CK Akonnor has since been handed serious headache his number one choice may not be ready for the clash which comes off later in the month.

Ghana are already on top of the group with 9 points after 4 games.
