Ansgar Knauff celebrates first goal against Hertha

Ansgar Knauff on loan from Dortmund scored his first goal for Eintracht Frankfurt in their heavy win against Hertha BSC.

Ansgar Knauff did not go beyond the role of a reserve player at Borussia Dortmund; the 20-year-old only had five brief appearances in the Bundesliga, largely for the U23s in the third tier.

That’s why the Gottingen native spent the winter on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he’s played more minutes in four games than he did at BVB in the whole first half of the season.

Despite being permitted to start twice for BVB in the Champions League, Knauff was yet to make his Bundesliga debut in Dortmund.

It was much faster at Eintracht Frankfurt, where coach Oliver Glasner gave the U21 international his assurance against Bayern Munich, and the player was also in the starting eleven against Hertha, where he scored his first goal for the Hessians in their big win.
