Antwerp axe Nana Ampomah from Europa League squad
Antwerp has not really taken the start in the competition that it had dreamed of with a four out of twelve, and that was while the Great Old still had a relatively quiet program. That will change from next week, because then they will make their entry into the Europa League. They will have to deal with the Cypriot Omonia Nicosia to qualify for the group stage.
On Thursday they will play the first leg in Cyprus and that is why Antwerp has submitted its list of players to UEFA. In the absence of self-trained players, there are only 21 names on it, which means that Brian Priske had to make some choices. The biggest names to fall by the wayside are Nill De Pauw, Nana Ampomah and Frank Boya.
They therefore do not immediately appear in Priske’s plans. Viktor Fischer and Radja Nainggolan are also not on the list, although the latter can still be registered. After all, he was not yet a player of Antwerp when the deadline expired. Fischer is not eligible to play because he already played European preliminary rounds with FC Copenhagen.
The Antwerp players list: Butez, De Wolf, Matijas; De Laet, Engels, Seck, Buta, Vines, Bataille, Almeida; B. Verstraete, Yusuf, Benson, Gerkens, Miyoshi, De Sart, L. Verstraete, Haroun; Eggestein, Balikwisha, Frey
