Asante Kotoko set to sign Dickson Afoakwa
Dickson Afoakwa is expected to join Asante Kotoko during the ongoing transfer window.
The 23-year-old, also known as ‘Ahinsan Sadio Mane,’ has signed a two-year agreement with the two-time CAF Champions League champions, with the possibility of a year extension.
Afoakwa, who has been unattached since December 2019, has spent the last two weeks training with the Kumasi-based club in preparation for a prospective move.
The 23-year-old has been without a club since his contract with Stellenbosch FC in South Africa was cancelled after only six months – he only made five appearances during his time with the PSL club.
In 2016, Afoakwa left Ghana to join Dinamo Brest of Belarus’ top-flight league, but he battled for consistent playing time in his first season.
After being loaned out to FC Gomel, he failed to live up to expectations, and his contract with Dinamo Brest was terminated after two seasons.
During the summer transfer window in 2018, he went from Belarus to Slovenia to join NK Triglav Kranj, although his contract was only for six months before it was cancelled.
