Black Stars lack quality; only a top coach can secure WC place for Ghana – Mohammed Polo

Former Ghana legend, Mohammed Polo has indicated that the Black Stars problem is that the team lacks quality.

The national team of the West African country crashed out of the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament at the group stage after failing to win a single game.

While the team is now preparing to face Nigeria in the final round of the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Mohammed Polo says he doubts whether Ghana can make it.

Speaking to Free FM, the ex-Black Stars attacker said the team currently lacks quality.

“What is happening will not help us. Even if we are able to qualify for the World Cup, it will not help us because this is not the quality.

“To be frank, football goes beyond logic. But you need a coach who can put certain things together so that if he is able to win then, he can take us to the World Cup,” Mohammed Polo said.

He continued, “But to be frank, the quality of our football today, if we are able to go past Nigeria and go to the World Cup, we shall thank God. But the World Cup is also a different thing.”

Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg of the encounter on March 24 before the reverse fixture is played in Abuja on March 27.
