Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil apologises to Ghanaians after AFCON disaster
Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil has rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians after the team failed woefully in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Ghana shockingly exited the tournament after failing to win the must-win game against debutants Comoros.
The four-time African champions were beaten 3-2, a result that saw them finish bottom of Group C with just a point.
In a post sighted by Footballghana.com, the Genk attacker said, “Still trying to recover from our painful exit from the competition. Apologies and Thanks to Ghanaians for their support and love”
“It’s unfortunate we couldn’t repay them with the results. A lot of lessons to learn from these low moments. We shall be back stronger” he tweeted.
Joseph Paintsil featured in all three games for the Black Stars at the AFCON and had a descend performance despite their exit from the tournament.
