BBC has reported some Argentinian football fans have clashed with police on the streets of Buenos Aires after the World Cup victory celebrations.

The clash the international media organization said  began when riot police tried to remove people from the top of the obelisk monument in the city centre.

Millions of people throng Argentina’s capital on Sunday, through to the following days to celebrate the country’s football team for winning the 2022 World up held in Qatar.

Report said the victory parade in the capital was stopped after two supporters jumped from a bridge onto the open-topped bus that carried the players.

BBC report local media reports said at least one football fan had died following the celebrations.

Argentina thrashes France on penalties to win 2022 World Cup

The La albicelestein( The White and Sky Blue) of Argentina  On Sunday, December 18, thrashed defending champions, France on penalties to win the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.

A 23 mins penalty scored by the Lionel Andrés Messi and a 36mins goal by Di María put the Argentine team ahead of their competitors in the first half. 

However, a stunning performance from France during the second half saw its forward, Kylian Mbappé Lottin put two behind the Argentine goalie within a time frame of one minutes apart, that is  80 and 81minues respectively, to equalize.

Messi added a 108 minutes goal put Argentina in 3-2  lead but was equalized by Mbappe in the 118 minutes of the game through a penalty.

The match ended 3-3 on full time and extra time sending the teams on penalties.

However, two penalty saves by the Argentine goalie, Damián Emiliano Martínez and one missed out by France secured Argentina’s victory cashing France out of their dream of wining the World Cup back to back.

Argentina in World Cup History

The win bring to three, the number of times Argentina has won the World Cup and 36years since it last own in 1986.

Argentina first won it in 1978.
