Concerned Grassroots Football Stakeholders petition the GFA, GARFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports

Concerned grassroots football stakeholders on Thursday petitioned the Ministry Of Youth And Sports, Ghana Football Association and the Greater Accra Regional Football Association over delays in commencement of various leagues.

The commencement of the Divisions Two, Three and Juvenile football league season for 2020/21 is in disguise and even dates back to about four years when the last one league was kicked.

In a step to have this situation addressed and get this year’s league commenced, some club heads were assigned on a mission for the betterment of our league system.

Daniel Ntim-Convener, Elliot Aryitey, Mr. H.H. Adika, El-son Asiedu, Issah Mohammed Kumai, Leonard Ahounanchede and Abdulai Issifu led a group of about 40 clubs who prepared and signed a petition to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, GFA and the GARFA respectively.

Some core points in the petition was how to lift restrictions on grassroots football with the key Covid19 protocols dutifully observed.

With the Astroturf facilities provided by the government, it is time you encourage region and district FAs to put them to use as they provide us with fences that allow for Covid19 protocols to be adhered to.

At the GFA, the General Secretary after reception took the group through some of the steps taken and works that have gone in to bring the sport back. He hinted the launch of the juvenile league at end of April.

The RFA was last to receive their document and the Chairman, Mr Samuel Aboabire said the presentation is timely and reiterated their relentless efforts to getting the various started.

Kofi Asare Brako also took the chance to congratulate the team and promised the minister every passing day until grassroots football attains a better recognition.
