Current Black Stars players would be sitting on Kotoko and Hearts of Oak bench twenty years ago – Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu
The majority leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu believes current Black Stars players will not merit to play for Hearts of Oak, RTU or Asante Kotoko twenty years ago.
Following Black Stars early elimination from the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon, the players have been taken to the cleaners with many questioning their quality and commitment.
Ghana exited the 33rd edition of the tournament at the group phase for the first time in 2006.
The Black Stars who were chasing their fifth continental title were crashed out without a win and finished at the bottom of Group C with just a point.
Kyei Mensah-Bonsu who was speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday slammed the players and questioned their commitment to the Black Stars.
“Current Black Stars players might not get a place on the bench of Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko or RTU twenty years ago,” he said.
Milovan Rajevac, who signed a one-year renewable deal in September as the head coach of the team has been sacked on Thursday.
The Black Stars immediate assignment come in March when they play Nigeria in the 2022 Fifa World Cup playoff.
