Dave Cormack tells Aberdeen to use Ghana's ‘Right to Dream’ as a blueprint for developing big money talent

Chairman of Aberdeen FC, Dave Cormack has urged his club to use Ghana’s ‘Right to Dream’ as a blueprint for developing big money talent

Right to Dream is a Ghanaian football academy which started in 1999 training a small number of boys in Accra and grew into a residential school and training center.

In 2015, Ghana-based Right To Dream Academy bought Danish side FC Nordsjaelland and have sold rising stars for more than €40m in recent seasons.

Cormack said: “I look at FC Nordsjaelland. The guy [Tom Vernon] that owns Nordsjaelland also owns Right to Dream who have an academy in Ghana.

“Nordsjaelland have sold three players for 20m Euros between them. These are young players. Also they just sold [Kamaldeen] Sulemana to Rennes for 21m Euros.”

He added, “Why can’t we do that in Scotland?”

“The answer is, one, you don’t pay that [transfer fee] for players in Scotland, you just don’t pay it.

“Two, they are not technically gifted as players.

“I think that’s changing in the latter part we’ve seen players come through.”
