Dreams FC teen star Fatawu Issahaku confident Ghana can win AFCON 2021 title
Dreams FC youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed optimism about Ghana winning the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations title.
The four-time Africa Champions has come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast on penalty shootout.
The 2021 AFCON has been slated for January 9 to February 6, 2022 as 24 countries battle it out for the ultimate.
The enterprising midfielder has been one of the top performers in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign with his consistent performance for Dreams FC.
The AFCON U-20 best player was part of the Black Stars team for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers where he made his debut against Zimbabwe at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
He is hoping his performances will guarantee him a place in the Black Stars squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament next year.
The former Steadfast FC winger in an interview with Kumasi-based Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com said Ghana has got quality players over the years but he is much confident in the current squad.
“Ghana has always got quality players but I trust in the current team. Everyone in the team is ready to win the African Cup so I think everyone will give out his all to take the cup” he said.
He continued that, “Actually, the target is to win the cup because at the U-20 level that was the target and we achieved it. So, I think with the senior side, they have everything that can help Ghana to win the trophy and have the confidence that we can win the trophy”
