Eric Bekoe condemns fans for booing Asamoah Gyan; calls for respect for the Ghanaian great

Former Asante Kotoko player Eric Bekoe has called on football fans to respect players who returned to the country to end their career in the Ghana Premier League.

His comments comes following the treatment meted out on former Black Stars attacker Asamoah Gyan during Legon Cities clash against Asante Kotoko.

The Black Stars legend was booed by the section of Kotoko fans during the game which incur his wrath forcing him to respond to the fans after the game.

Bekoe who is a former player of Asante Kotoko has called on the fans to desist from such behavior as it could stop players from returning to the league to end their career.

Speaking to Happy FM on the incident, Bekoe revealed he suffered the same thing in the hands of the fans during his time with Sekondi Hasaacas.

“The fans should stop this and set a precedence whereby players who want to return to the league will be happy to do so”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy 98.9FM.

“Asamoah Gyan has seen it all in football and he has come home to share his experience with the young players over here. We blacks don’t support our own”.

“What happened to Asamoah Gyan, I experienced a similar situation when I joined Sekondi Hasaacas. There were some comments from the fans which were not palatable but I proved them wrong after that and was even the top scorer for the club which earned me a move to Egypt”, he added
