Ex-Black Stars midfielder Agyemang Badu explains why Ghana must qualify over Nigeria in World Cup play-off
Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has explained why the Black Stars must secure qualification to the World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.
Ghana will play a two-legged encounter against Nigeria this month with the winner securing one of the five slots on the African continent.
The Black Stars will host Nigeria on March 25, 2022 before traveling to Abuja for the reverse fixture on March 29, 2022.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM monitored by Footballghana.com, the former Udinese star backed the Black Stars to qualify for the biggest soccer mundial since he wants to watch the tournament in Qatar.
“I want to be in Qatar, even if I am not in the team, I would want to watch the World Cup in Qatar so I want my country to beat Nigeria and qualify”, he said.
Badu, a member of the U-20 team that won the FIFA World Cup in Egypt is currently a free agent after leaving Chinese side Qingdao FC.
He was also a member of the Black Stars squad that reach the quarter finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
