Exclusive: AZ Alkmaar wanted to sign Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru
Dutch side AZ Alkmaar wanted to sign Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru on the summer transfer deadline day.
Footballghana.com understands that AZ Alkmaar made an offer to sign the enterprising midfielder on loan from Belgian giants Anderlecht before the window shuts on Tuesday, August 31.
But an agreement was not reached and the highly-rated midfielder remains at Anderlecht.
The Belgian giants secured the permanent signing of Ashimeru from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer transfer window after a superlative performance while on loan.
The 23-year-old is believed to be in the plans of manager Vincent Kompany, hence the decision not to allow him leave.
