FIFA to hold draw for 2022 World Cup in April next year
World football governing body, FIFA will hold the draw for the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar in next year April.
Despite the postponement of the 2020 European Championship, Copa America and the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, FIFA is bent on holding the global tournament in 2022.
Although it will not be in the summer as usual, the tournament will be staged in 2022 to keep the FIFA calendar in shape for the subsequent years.
Amid the ongoing qualifiers of the tournament, FIFA has this week resolved to hold the draw for next year’s World Cup in April.
Ghana is aiming to play at the tournament but as things stand now the Black Stars risk missing out.
This is because Ghana is second in Group G of the African qualifiers as it continues to trail South Africa.
The Black Stars must next month secure wins against Ethiopia and South Africa to stand any chance of making it to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
