FIFA U-17 WWC: Black Maidens advance to next stage with win over Senegal
Ghana’s Black Maidens have qualified to the next stage of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after beating Senegal 3-0 to qualify on a 4-0 aggregate score.
The Maidens attempted to make a spirited start in front of their fans, but it didn’t last long as the Senegalese soaked all the pressure to end the first half goalless.
However, Georgina Ayisha Aoyem scored the first goal as she capitalized on a counter-attack to slot home the opener for Ghana in the 49th minute.
After hitting the crossbar with a powerful effort, Princess Owusu then neatly placed the rebound at the bottom corner of the post to register the second goal in the 58th-minute mark.
Ghana’s Princess Owusu was given the marching orders after a bad tackle on Senegal midfielder Ndeye Tida.
With just a few minutes to end the game, the Black Maidens added to the tally through Abdulai Karima as she slotted home calmly to complete the 3-0 thumping.
The win pitches the Black Maidens against Guinea in the next round of the qualifiers.
